Departments of Surgical Nursing and Continuing Nursing Education & Research, College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore.
Hepatobiliary (HPB) malignancies often require major operations which are associated with increased perioperative morbidity resulting in an increase in the length of stay, delay of adjuvant therapy, and adversely impacting the patient quality of life. Caring for patients undergoing Hepatobiliary operations for malignancies is challenging for nurses, making it imperative to keep abreast of the recent trends and be competent in providing comprehensive care to patients, ensuring quality. This also catalyzes HPB Nursing in evolving into a specialty, playing a vital role alongside a multidisciplinary team aimed at impacting patient outcomes.
OBJECTIVES:
This workshop will enable the participants to
– Update on assessment of Hepatobiliary malignancies and care of patients undergoing Hepatobiliary surgeries.
