The Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program incepted in 1932, is designed to gear students to be competent, compassionate registered nurses and midwives who provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals and families in varied healthcare settings.

Course Description:

The Post Basic Diploma Programmes in Nursing are designed to prepare registered nurses to acquire in-depth knowledge and clinical skills in providing advanced quality of care in the respective specialised areas and function effectively as care givers at the three levels of health care.

The newly introduced Residency Program by INC emphasizes on clinical competency with relevant theory with a main focus on competency-based training. Theory includes foundational courses and specialty courses besides practicum. The theory component comprises 10% and practicum 90% (Clinical & Lab.).

This programme aims at enabling registered nursing professionals to develop and apply advanced nursing care knowledge and skills for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in intensive care settings. Post Basic Diploma in Haematology Nursing including Stem Cell Transplant

The Post Basic Diploma in Haematology Specialty Nursing including Stem Cell transplant is designed to prepare registered nurses for advanced practice of nursing in Haematology Nursing. It enables the nurse to analyse the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, developmental and spiritual factors that influence individual and family health outcomes. Nurses provide health care to Haematology patients across the lifespan, primarily in care settings like Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) and in the Haematology wards and coordinates specialized care with the assistance of haematologists. This programme requires full time attendance.

Post Basic Diploma in Neonatal Nursing

The Post Basic Diploma programme in Neonatal Nursing provides nurses with the skills and knowledge to practice safely and competently in a variety of neonatal nursing settings, with sick and convalescing infants. Through the teaching and learning experiences, students develop expertise in caring for babies and their families affected by acute, chronic and complex neonatal illness.

Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing

This course is designed to prepare specially trained Oncology Nurses who can provide competent care to patients with cancer in a safe and effective care environment. The course consists of four semesters spread out over a two-year period to provide students with a flexible schedule. In order to prepare students for careers in the medical sector, the M.Sc Nursing curriculum includes techniques and methods found within the hospital .It  is a postgraduate course that aims to help the students gain knowledge and experience participating in research projects. . The M.Sc Nursing curriculum allows students to learn nursing techniques that will help them meet medical challenges.

Students are exposed to different courses in each semester to help them gain a better understanding of the subject. Students will participate in classroom theory sessions as well as practical lab sessions to prepare them for advanced courses. The M.Sc Nursing curriculum integrates new technologies into teaching nursing. In addition to lectures and practicals, students are trained in elective subjects from different specializations.

Description

The Doctor of Philosophy program is designed to prepare doctoral candidates to identify and utilize the nursing science and leadership.

The College of Nursing is affiliated to the “The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University” for Ph.D Nursing since 1994. The College is also one of the nodal centers under the National Consortium for Ph. D Nursing set up by Indian Nursing Council in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru since 2006.
