Fundamentals of Nursing Department
Home:
This is the very basic department of Nursing education and practice that takes care of 200 first-year nursing students. The department introduces and inculcates core values and skills of the nursing profession to nursing students as they begin their professional journey.
Services:
Education: The department caters to 200 first-year nursing students- 100 BSc and 100 GNM. There are 5 MSN faculty and 20 BSN tutors to nurture the young adolescent buds to bloom to their fullest through classroom teaching, skill lab training, supervised clinical experience, and clinical teaching.
Student Nurture: Students are monitored very closely to understand them and render necessary help. Students are divided into groups of 10 with one tutor/ faculty as their group leader who is also the mentor. It’s both a formal and informal relationship between the leader and the students and the focus is on character building, academic excellence, skill refinement, and all-round development.
Skill lab: The skill lab is designed for basic nursing and medical-surgical nursing procedures. The lab has mannequins, patient care equipment, and devices. Other departments use the lab and items, and the process is facilitated by the department.
Training:
Nursing Students:
BSc and GNM Nursing students are trained in nursing skills and first aid skills through classroom teaching and skill training
Basic Nursing & First Aid classes for II MBBS and I/ II AHS students: Basics of Nursing science pertaining to the care of patients that is essential for patient care services by the medical and allied health professionals are taught through both theory classes and demonstrations. First aid theory classes, skill training, and certification examination is conducted by the
department for I/ II year AHS students every year.
