UNIQUENESS
Integration of Nursing education and practice
We follow a unique model where the faculty with Masters’ degree in Nursing assume a dual role, contributing equally and effectively to Nursing education in the College and Nursing practice in the Hospital. This model ensures high standards of Nursing practice and enhances the quality of Nursing education.
Secondary Hospital Experience
Our students receive an exclusive opportunity to visit mission hospitals in remote areas of the country that enlarges their vision about the varied health care needs of communities and optimal utilization of resources, preparing them to provide culturally and economically sensitive patient care. The SHINE (Secondary Hospital Illuminating Nursing Experience) program was started in 2011, with the aim of orienting students to the services rendered by mission hospitals with limited resources. This experience is provided for third year BSc(N), and Final Year PBBSc(N) students for a period of one week.
Nurse Led Community Health Service
The College of Nursing Community Health Programme (CONCH) was initiated in the year 1987 adopting 23 villages in and around Vellore district with the primary objective of promoting the health and living standards of the marginalized population through efficient community participation. The programme also offers excellent community health learning experience for the student nurses. This nurse led community health service is offered through family centred home care services, clinics, school health programme, special camps and community organizational activities currently covering a population of 1,07,133 in rural & urban population.
