College of Nursing, CMC Vellore, follows the footsteps of its parent institution of opening its portals to hundreds of students and staff for teaching and learning experiences.

  1. Contribution to statutory bodies and professional organizations/associations
    Our faculty continue to contribute as office bearers and executive members of professional organizations like Nurses’ League of the Christian Medical Association of India; Trained Nurses Association of India; South India Board of Nursing Education, CMAI. They also offer consultations at national and international platforms of various professional associations like National Research Society of India, Society of Community Health Nurses in India and Society of Indian Neuroscience Nurses.
  2. Strengthening mission hospitals
    Sharing the same zeal as its parent institution, the College continues to strengthen the mission hospitals by actively participating in enhancing quality of nursing education in mission schools. Faculty offer their expertise in curriculum development and syllabi revision, as members of school governing bodies. Our faculty are also consulted for governance of mission hospitals and often participate in inspection of mission hospitals quality improvement.
    It also aims to sensitise the nursing students to the need and relevance of the secondary/mission hospitals. It believes that the fervour for outreach needs to be infused in every student. Therefore, every student goes through a realistic experience of learning and observership at mission hospitals throughout India.   3. Alumni strongholds and linking
    With its alumni disseminating the ethos and values of the College in various parts of the world, our College continues to influence nursing education at different colleges of nursing globally.
  4. Offering consultation and training
    Our College facilitates outreach by being the resource centre for learning to nursing professionals working in various capacities. Being one of the five National Nodal Centres identified by the INC, it is striving to strengthen the pre service education in ANM schools. In the capacity of a Sub Recipient of Global Funding for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by Indian Nursing Council, the College conducts training programmes for trainers, nurses, ANM’s and monitors the quality of training programmes conducted by other hospitals (For details, see the link on Resource centre of GFATM on the home page).
  5. Exchange programmes for faculty and students
    Our faculty continue to contribute to global professional development by rendering their expertise on national and international forums. Exchange programmes with other universities enable faculty and students from both sides to enrich each other.
  6. Example of the model of dual role of faculty
    Our College continues to be an exemplar for other institutions to emulate its functioning with respect to the dual role of the faculty. The faculty are not only involved in theoretical instruction at College but also ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in their respective areas functioning as Nurse Managers.
