Recent Activities
INTRODUCTION
- College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore was established in the year 1909. The college is a pioneering institution for nursing education in the country, which established regular courses for training nurses in the year 1909, and hence the student’s activities started functioning even before the establishment of SNAI. The SNAI unit of College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore was enrolled into the national unit in the early 1970s.
- The SNAI unit thus has a rich history of achievements throughout the past years. The unit always ensures that the activities done among students fulfil the objectives of SNAI, whereby providing an interactive and informative environment that brings out their talents and capabilities.
- The CMC SNAI unit aims in the academic and co-curricular development of students, embracing the cultural diversity among the students of the unit. The SNAI unit currently consists of 748 members from both General Nursing and Midwifery and BSc Nursing courses.

All 30 office bearers of the cabinet are nominated and elected by the student body. The various Committees are Sports, Food, Social, Entertainment, Education, Fund Raising, Religious Activities, Hostel, Health & Sanitation, Judiciary and Editorial Committee. Each have their own set of responsibilities and programmes to carry out through the year.The Annual Grand Sale is another event where the Fund-Raising committee conducts a massive sale of eats and crafts. The students donate as well as collect jumbles (old clothes, books, shoes etc), which are sold on the sales day and it is a time of fun and fund raising. The proceeds of the sale go to sponsor to two children of an orphanage (MBKG Pannai) and other social welfare activities.
Each year the Editorial committee brings out a magazine which comprises of the sketches, paintings, creative writings etc of the students. It is a good method of show casing the otherwise hidden talents. The Religious activities committee holds special meetings each Sunday and invites guest from various places to come and share God’s message. They also put up various Christian movies that teach us more about the way of living. The Education committee conducts quiz and gets us updated on the latest scientific news. The Health and Sanitation committee maintains the cleanliness of the hostel and surroundings and any sickness is reported to them. The Hostel committee looks after the various aspects of the hostel and also organises the Hostel Day when we celebrate on a grand scale. The Social committee visits various organisations and does a lot of charity work amidst the down trodden and marginalised in Vellore city. Annual Sports Day is organised by the Sports Committee. We display a splendid March Past and stunning Drills. The track and field events are the highlights. The Food committee prepares the meal plan for the week and ensures food wastage is prevented in the hostel. The Entertainment committee provides a platform for students to display their various talents in different programs conducted in College of Nursing.

- Dimension” is an annual magazine published under the initiative of the College of Nursing students, coordinated by the Editorial Committee.
- This publication serves as a vibrant platform for students to showcase their diverse talents and creative expressions. Contributions span across a wide array of categories, including poetry, short stories, essays, recipes, and other literary or artistic works
MUSICAL – 27TH APRIL, 2024
A Musical, “Madame Edith,” was an original production, with an original script and music, written and composed by the nursing students of College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore. The Entertainment Committee alongside with Fundraising committee and Education committee organized a Fundraising event to raise funds for the upcoming CONFEST 2024 Intercollegiate Fest.
The Musical was an original storyline by the students where they self-composed songs, choreographed dances and created their own costumes and props
CONFEST – INTERCOLLIGATE 2024 – 23RD AND 24TH AUGUST, 2024
An Intercollegiate event “CONFEST 2024” was held between 23rd and 24th August, 2024. Nursing colleges from various districts of Tamil Nadu participated. Our students participated in few selected events since we focused on hosting the event more than winning prizes .
Mrs. Sudha, Tamil Nadu State SNA Advisor was the Chief guest and inaugrated the event.Second day (24.8.24), The valedictory event was chaired by Dr. Vathsala Sadan (Former Dean and SNA President, CON,CMC Vellore).
HOSTEL TALKIES
This year 2025 we were able to introduce a new initiative entitled Hostel Talkies, featuring a radio session conducted by the students at the College of Nursing for their fellow nursing students. This program will address current events, student participations, upcoming reminders, and other relevant updates. A team of 10 talented individuals have been selected to lead the same.
Chosen based on their exceptional on-air personality, content creation skills, communication abilities, and overall performance.
