HISTORY
College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore is a pioneering institute in Nursing Education. College was the first College of Nursing established in 1947 though it was functioning as a Nursing School since 1900.
It had the privilege of collaborating with WHO as a WHO collaborating centre for Nursing & Midwifery since 2002 and got redesignated in 2022.
Milestones:
1999 - WHO [SEAR] Regional Training Centre for Community Health Nursing.
2002 - Recognized as WHO collaborating centre for Nursing and Midwifery Development.
2004 - WHO [SEAR] Regional Training Program for safe motherhood and adult nursing.
2004 - Member, Global Network of WHO collaborating centre for Nursing - Midwifery development
2005 - WHO [SEAR] Regional Training Program on Neonatal, Neurological & Operating Room Nursing
2007 - WHO [SEAR] Training program for Mental Health Nursing
2008 - National Level WHO Training Program on Emergency and Trauma Nursing
2008 - Subreceipient of South Zone of for GFATM - HIV/AIDS Training
2008-20 - GFATM - HIV /AIDS & TB - Training Program.
22021 – Continued as WHO CC till November 2021
22022 – Redesignated as WHO CC in February 2022
